2016 Midyear Retreat

On the weekend of July 22, Willmeng hosted a company retreat in Greer to show appreciation for the amazing men and women who dedicate many hours of service to our company and to say thank you for being part of our corporate family. We admire their hard work.

Our annual retreats are normally held at a resort in the Valley, but this year we thought it best to cater to our field employees who enjoy the great outdoors by hosting their families and friends in cabins and lodges up North, away from the heat.

Getting out of town with nearly 100 members of the Willmeng family was the best idea ever! The weekend was filled with horseback riding, zip lining, fishing, a bonfire evening with a Native American storyteller and corn hole.

“This was a wonderful weekend.  It was very nice to meet everyone and their families.  Almost half of our company employees spend their time at the job sites, and it’s very pleasant to have all of us meet at one location outside the work environment.  My wife and kids really enjoyed the weekend and they are asking about the next one.” – Isam Ghandour, Partner & VP. Chief Estimator

If there’s one thing that you need to know about Willmeng, it’s that we take corn hole tournaments very seriously and with large amounts at stake. Our first place, $2000 corn hole tournament winners were Lisa Rodriguez and Patrick Gleason. The second place, $1000 winners were Cody Phelan and Tara Gleash, and lastly, the third place, $500 winners were Kayla Waymire and Kevin Baehr.

Fishing is no joke either. Tom Jarvis, Vice President of Sales & Pre-Lease Estimating, placed first in the adult fishing tournament and James Murphy Jr. aka “Mini Murphy” placed first in the children’s competition.

We always take time at our retreats to individually recognize members of our team who made impossible projects happen throughout the year with our “Make It Happen Awards.” The recognitions were as follows:

A huge thanks to El Toro Barbeque for catering delicious food. We were stuffed all weekend! We also must thank the on-site baby sitter for preparing arts and crafts and a bounce house to entertain the 20 Willmeng kids that came for fun. And finally, we cannot go without thanking the Willmeng team members who spend four months planning this wonderful weekend. It was truly one for the books!
