Q&A: Jessica Zygmont

Chief Performance Officer & Chief Financial Officer

Jessica Zygmont joined Willmeng Construction in 2017 as chief performance officer and chief financial officer. Finance comes easily to Jessica, but she thrives on challenging opportunities, and her thirst to learn more has catapulted her into business operations. Today, she solely focuses on advancing Willmeng by identifying ways to maintain business success and efficiency. Learn about her in this Q&A:

What drew you to Willmeng?

The culture, the progressiveness, and the collaboration.

What are three career lessons you have learned thus far?

  • Treat everyone equally.
  • Everyone has a story.
  • Become successful by making those around you successful.

What is the best advice you ever received?

The best thing to do is usually the hardest.

How would you describe Willmeng’s work ethic and work environment?

My position at Willmeng is demanding, but I get in return from Willmeng just as much as I give. At Willmeng there are no egos, and everyone works towards the same goal to achieve success.

What is No. 1 on your professional bucket list?

Staying relevant.

How would you describe your team?

The Willmeng team is dynamic and diverse! I oversee many departments in the company and am surrounded by so many unique talents.

What project are you currently working on?

I am currently working to further develop Willmeng’s infrastructure by analyzing internal processes, procedures and employee development.

What is your proudest, most rewarding moment at Willmeng?

It has been rewarding to fit in with the Willmeng team as if I have been here for a decade.

What is the greatest challenge you have had to overcome in life?

My husband is a Police K9 Officer who was shot twice in the line of duty, and his K9 Ronin was killed. Even with the five year anniversary upon us, the event sits at the forefront of my mind as he continues to serve as a K9 Officer. As a result, my husband and I founded the Blue Line K9 Foundation which offers assistance to Police K9 Handlers and their families in the event of a fallen or injured Police K9 or Police K9 Handler in the line of duty.

What is the first concert you ever went to?

What is your life motto?

You make your own weather.
