About
The City of Phoenix Bret Tarver Learning Center is a very special project for Willmeng, serving as our entry into the public sector in 2009. We were honored to build this challenging and emotionally-charged project. The center took on Bret Tarver’s name in honor of the firefighter who lost his life battling an arson-caused fire. This 3,000 SF facility had many challenging aspects, including a site abatement process due to high arsenic levels from a past fire.
The community learning center for the City of Phoenix features masonry, wood, and steel construction as well as industrial-style finishes and distinct architectural features. The center offers people of all ages access to a cutting edge computer lab with Internet access, a reading room, rotating art displays, and numerous educational classes.
