The Peoria Main Library Renovations Project represents a significant effort to modernize and improve the City of Peoria’s 16,985 SF main library. DFDG Architecture led the design efforts on this renovation. The scope is inclusive of ADA-compliant upgrades for the restrooms, an expansion of the main lobby by relocating the entryway doors to create a meeting space, the addition of a skylight above the new meeting space, the replacement of the relatively low drywall ceiling in the main lobby with a higher ceiling composed of acoustic tiles, the addition of an audio studio on the second floor, the replacement of all three circulation desks, complete re-carpeting, and extensive re-painting. In addition to these interior renovations, Willmeng also converted an outdoor amphitheater into a play area with child-friendly turf, shade structures, and children’s activity stations.
