How did you get started in your career?

Working with my dad building buildings on our family farm in Minnesota. He always told me to do my best in whatever I chose to do, and gave me good work ethics.

What advice do you have for prospective Willmeng candidates? What personality traits thrive most at the company?

Always have a positive attitude. People who are honest, respectful, trustworthy, appreciative and cultured do well at Willmeng.

What are your thoughts on Willmeng’s retreat? What was the best, most memorable part?

The great accommodations, food and scenery combined to be a very stress-free and perfect weekend. It was a great mixer, and I enjoyed seeing everyone come together to play cornhole and meet one another. It was a reflection of Willmeng’s very positive work environment and how we enjoy making it happen.

What is No. 1 on your professional bucket list?

I want to retire healthy so I can travel the country and visit family.

What 3 to 5 qualities combine to make a “rock star” leader?

A great leader is a mentor and a visionary that is focused, accountable, hard-working and devoted.

What projects have you worked on most recently?

My team and I recently completed DARED 90, a 107,000-square-foot concrete tilt building at Allread Park Place on an 11-acre site in Phoenix. We also just finished CAZ 6, Building 9, a ground-up office building that Wells Fargo / The Private Bank will occupy 6,900-square-feet of, and Douglas Allred Company will occupy the remaining 3,000-square-feet also located at Allred Park Place.

What is the greatest challenge you have had to overcome in your life thus far.

I fell off a building in 1997 onto a plumbing pipe and broke my back. It was a long recovery and took a lot of determination to walk again. I am strict on safety nowadays and always warn my team to look out for potential accidents like that.

What is the first concert you ever went to?

Garth Brooks

What is your life motto?

Treat people the way you want to be treated.

If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Barbeque ribs

What do you like to do outside of work?

My wife and I work on our property taking care of our animals, and we like to ride our horses and our Harley.
