The new Fire Station 304 will be located in the growing northern area of the city at 163rd Avenue and San Ysidro Road.

Surprise voters approved a bond to fund construction of the station, which will replace the temporary modular station currently in use.

“After approximately 17 years of operating out of a temporary station, we are excited to finally build a permanent station in this growing area of the city,” said City of Surprise Mayor Skip Hall. “Public safety is vitally important to the City Council, as well as our residents, and I am excited that this new, expanded station positions us to meet the needs of the community well into the future.”

The new permanent fire station is expected to be completed in fall 2020.

“The role of first responders has taken on an entirely new meaning in today’s world and the Surprise Fire-Medical Department definitely deserves this new building,” said James Murphy, Willmeng President and CEO. “This space will provide a place of community and a much-needed place of respite for this department.”

Perlman Architects, Phoenix, Ariz., is the architect and has designed the space for the ongoing health and wellness of the firefighters. This project has been designed for the future and will be used as inspiration for more stations to come.

“In addition to fulfilling the needs of the community, this state-of-the-art facility provides increased protections for our firefighters,” said City of Surprise Fire-Medical Chief Tom Abbott. “There will be facilities for them to come in and clean up immediately after calls to remove potential carcinogens off their skin, which should help with cancer reduction. We are so grateful to our residents for their support of this important project.”
